Hello, I'm Drake Mariani. I'd like to invite you to read how I became a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ when I was 21.

Here's the history of MemLok.

I completed MemLok in its first translation in November 1989. My background includes experiences with children as a clown, youth as a pastor and the business world in sales for 10 years. Gina & I were married in 1965, have 3 children, and were members of the First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton, CA from 1980-2000. We currently fellowship at Calvary Chapel, La Habra.

The Development of MemLok
Having worked with small groups for years, I noted people always said "Give me the first few words", then upon hearing them, quickly said the verse. Coupling this with the principle of "association", I prayed for God to help me come up with a picture for "the first key words"of every verse I already had memorized in a system of 48 topics and 700 verses. Then I asked various artists to draw each idea.

MemLok contains at least one verse in every chapter of the New Testament and Proverbs and at least one verse from every Old Testament book. The average card has about 1.5 verses on it.

By faith, I made 100 copies of the New American Standard Version Card System in 1990. The need was clear, so the New International Version, King James, and New King James followed in `91, `93, and `95.

The Seven Devotional Tools were in place before MemLok was completed. They provide means to APPLY the memorized Word of God.

Say The Books! and Say The Books! Overhead Masters with Reproduction Rights was completed in 1995.

Name That Book! Computer Game was developed by my friend, Terry Brennan in 1996.

MemLok It was only logical to develop MemLok for the computer (Version 1.0 in 1997) which now prints business cards in color and coloring pages (v 2.2a 7/31/02). Whole classrooms can use one copy of the program. All members of a family can memorize different topics, translations and verses quite easily.

Currently, God has opened doors for thousands to use it with kids from ages 2-92 in 50 states and 50 countries! Praise the Lord!! God is so believable! God is blessing this ministry. I'm grateful!

The three main differences in MemLok and other options --
beside the true flip card and use of a "picture".

A "doable" review system. Without it, my experience indicates people quit around the 75-100 verses range. Bottom line is: I must review for life and if it takes too long, I get discouraged and quit. MemLok's 5 minute review plan causes me to review all 700 verses every two months, yet my daily pile (5 days a week) is only 5 minutes.

  • Choice of using "Cards" or Computer
It works whether you are a child or elderly!

MemLok is used by kids 2-92, colleges, seminaries, preschools and missionary sewing circles.

I pray daily for God to produce fruit in MemLok owner's lives - Psalm 90:17. I also pray daily for Satan to be bound from using procrastination with owners and pre-owners.
