Which grades get which topics and verses?
First, administration and/or teachers agree which grades get which topics and verses. If you're looking long range (K-12), and you do 36 verses a year (summers off and one verse a week for 36 weeks), that is three topics a year. So, 3 x 12 years requires 36 topics and you have 48 to choose from.
Non Readers: You may wish to use coloring pages from the computer program for the non-readers, letting them color their pictures. A private individual could own a copy of MemLok and give originals for reproduction to the church or school.
Everyone Will Need
- A sheet of 12 verses for 3 months or at least one card a week. The easiest way is to purchase a ream of 67# vellum bristol stock which has 250 sheets from a paper company. Any printer can make the copies (be sure and bring your license with you since the material is copyrighted). For $5 or less, they can cut a whole ream (500) into 12 piles of 500 verses in minutes.
Note: KJ Version in notebook These cards are blue, so take care to get the copy setting the way you like it.
- One 10-slot plastic will last for a year - $2.95 for 5.
- A Listener
See Covenant for Consistency below, especially if using the cards not computer program.
- To have the Review System explained. In computer program, under Print Cards/Reviewing With Cards
Best learned in a small group setting when all have one plastic and some cards in their hands. This is the heart of the system. Without it, review will become cumbersome.
- The Meditation Page In computer program, under Print Cards/Reviewing With Cards.
Having one quiet time a week on the verse and it's context will help cement the verse in memory and more importantly emphasize application. As a teacher, you will generate teaching ideas too.
Optional
- The Topic List
The objective is to enable selection of topics most desired by the learner. Consider a "Club" that meets regularly to support one another. Seven Devotional Tools $2.95 provides plenty to do as a supplement.
- The Covenant for Consistency In computer program, under Help/Devotional Helps
Recruit "Listeners" who may or may not memorize. They will sign up to be in a "term" contractual arrangement with a "Learner". -usually either calling or meeting once a week to hear the verse.
When the term is up, evaluate the arrangement and sign up again, or find another listener.
- The Completion Record In computer program, under Print Cards/Reviewing With Cards
Allowing "checking up on whether review was done daily and records the actual approval of "Word Perfect" recitation of the one verse for the week. A copy could be kept by both listener and learner especially if distance separates. Could be implemented by parent, listener, friend, church staff, teacher, mentor.
Implementing Picture Reproduction on MemLok Software
- Consider putting the Verse List in all Sunday School teacher's hands so they can call in their reproduction request specific to the lesson they are teaching.
- Remember you can print with/without the reference, topic or Scripture.
- Print the picture with Scripture to start with, then leave it off and have the student write out the verse.
- Decorate the room with a color copy of past verses.
