Why Scripture Memory?
 Jesus did.
 God's servants do.
 For fellowship.
 For ministry.
 To defeat sin.
 It is important to remember that even if I memorized the whole Bible, God wouldn't love me one iota more than he does at this moment.

Nor will he love me less if I stop memory work (or never do it at all). In fact, there is nothing I can do to make Him love me more or less.

To me, Bible memory has to do with a love relationship with Jesus. The Bible is precious to me because He himself is precious to me. Through Scripture memory He communicates with me. I like that.


Consider great leaders of the past (and present!) Christian movements.
You'll find most every one of them placed strong emphasis on personal Scripture memory.
