How to Overcome Complaining with Scripture Memory

Struggling to Overcome a Complaining Attitude? Know that God’s Word is the Best Antidote to Stop Complaining

Many of us have a long history of "complaining" about things.

Don’t believe me?

Start asking people who you think will give you honest feedback. Or record your daily conversations for a few days and then listen to them. The truth is that we complain about almost everything; the house we live in, the job we have, maybe certain aspects of our businesses, the way we look, our relationships and the list goes on and on.

We keep doing this without realizing that God hates complaining no matter in what form it is.

Many of us have no idea how to overcome this complaining attitude.

It’s quite difficult to keep our mouth shut and not complain when things go wrong in our lives. We easily and so aggressively point out if someone else complains that it’s not the right attitude but in our case…

…I'm right and they're wrong attitude is the way to go.

Isn’t that the truth?

The fact is that these excuses are just blind justifications.

James 5:9 Is the Scripture to Turn To When Sermons On Murmuring and Complaining Don’t Help

Here's how the verse reads...

“Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.”

This verse opened my eyes to the reality that I alone am accountable to God. I will reap what I sow with my complaining. Since I trust God that He cares for me in every situation then I also accept the fact that the Father teaches me through the difficulties that come in my life.

God is involved in my life totally.

When I find myself tempted to grumble at someone...

I take a deep breath and recall the scripture James 5:9.

When I recite this verse quietly in my mind I'm reminded of something very important...

That my complaining is the equivalent of me telling God I'm not happy with the job He's doing.

And since I know that can never be true, it helps me keep my mouth and attitude under control.

What does this tell me?

One verse memorized can help me in overcoming the negative attitude which in this case is complaining.

Ready for this exciting ride?

I just wanted to say Thank You for this program! I am a 54 year old lady who has been in church all my life, but I have never made a concentrated effort to memorize scripture. Lately, it has become a strong desire of my heart, and so I started looking for ways to make it easier to remember the references that go with scriptures. I remembered this program from a home school convention I attended many years ago, went on-line and downloaded it that same day! My life has changed!! I’ve only been working at the pace recommended but already have memorized 9 scriptures that I have since used in conversation with someone that needed the Lord. I am so much more confident in sharing, and MemLok is a big part of that! I have already chosen 100 scriptures that I am going to memorize and plan to make 2015 the year to do so. Thank You, Thank You! You are a blessing in my life. Donna Lynes
