How to Remember Your Identity in Christ

Fingerprint (Identity) in the sky breaking apart into doves flying toward heaven (Christ)

Since We Are Created in the Image of God, It’s Our Father’s Desire that we Remember It and Live by It Every Day.

While finding our identity in Christ is the cornerstone to our Christian life, retaining who we are is key to living a life Father God envisioned for us.

Oftentimes, the ups and downs of life overshadow who we really are. The challenging days and nights we spend on this earth make us question whether or not we really are God’s children.

If you are at a place of questioning your identity then the most important thing is to NOT let your circumstances define you. Instead, I invite you to ALWAYS bear in mind that even Jesus -- the Son of God -- had to bear the burden of this earthly life.

So how are you to remember and live by your true identity in Christ when the challenges of this life overshadow your heart and mind?

Here are 5 verses to make it happen.

I Am Chosen by God

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Ephesians 1:4

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

Declare this today: I’m special in God’s eyes. He see me as His beautiful creation because He chose me to be complete in Him even before this world was created. I am called as an individual and as a nation to come out of darkness into the glory of Christ Jesus.

I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made… Psalm 139:14

Declare this today: God did not create me in vain, but He planned the purpose of my life since the beginning. I am a wonderful creation of God who is meant to praise and worship His creator.

I Am Strengthened to Do Anything God Calls Me to Do

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Declare this today: Nothing is difficult for me because Jesus is my strength. He has sent the counselor, the Holy Spirit, to guide me in my weaknesses and hard times.

I Am Never Alone

...For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5

Declare this today: God never leaves me because I’m His child. Even when I feel God is not with me He is still there waiting for me to look at Him and walk with Him.

I Am Loved by God

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?... For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39

Declare this today: My situation, no matter what it is, can’t separate me from the everlasting love of God. I can experience God’s true love in Christ Jesus.

Choose to remember who you are and live by it every day

The above verses make us remember our identity in Christ. However, the quest doesn’t end here. It’s our responsibility to grasp the complete picture of who we are by finding the treasure in the Word of God.
