How to Stay Focused in Life
By Drake Mariani, Founder, MemLok Bible Memory System
When You Use This Simple Yet Powerful Technique to Improve Your Focus, Your Life With God Will Get So Much Better.
This is one of the craziest things I think we do as God's children.
We're all guilty of it at some time. Some of us are guilty of it all the time.
Do you remember the days when you were in the beginning of a new relationship with your boyfriend or girlfriend? Or maybe when you just got married. Or a time when you were having trouble in your relationship.
During those times you must have put a lot of energy into moving your relationship from uncertainty to certainty. Getting it to a place where you could relax and feel satisfied with where you were.
We've all done this when trying to lose weight (except you skinny ones out there... we know who you are).
When you're trying to lose weight you focus on watching what you eat. You exercise. You get the right amount of sleep.
Everything you do is focused on achieving your goal of losing the weight.
But then something happens.
We get the relationship we want. We lose the weight. We accomplish all the amazing things we set our mind to.
We fall off track.
Can you relate?
Why Do We Fall Back After Achieving Our Goals?
Ever been in a situation where even when you try to get back on track with your hard fought goal, it doesn’t easily work out.
Why did that happen? Or is happening…
Because you stopped focusing on taking consistent action. That’s how we are. We stop giving attention to the things that matter when we finally have them.
I mean, think about it. Nobody brushes their teeth on January 1st and then says, "Ok...done for the year."
Or take a shower on Sunday and say, "I'm good for the week!"
Everything in your life requires attention and consistent action to keep it at the same (or better than before) level.
All areas of your life demand your focus: your health, your relationships, your children, your job, your education.
Ever Thought Why Success Looks Like a Piece of Cake for Some People?
If you ask some of the most successful people in the world, “What’s the secret of your success?”
You will hear from each one of them, “I remain successful only because I give regular, focused attention to things that matter.”
Is success a piece of cake for them? Of course not!
But that’s what many of us think.
Ask them how they were able to consistently give attention to all the important things in their life...
...they almost always give the same answer.
Do you really want to know what it is? Or are you just going to read this and say, "Oh, that's interesting." and not do a thing to improve your life?
Here's what these super-successful people do:
They practice focused meditation.
And for Christians, God has given us the Bible, God’s Word, to focus or meditate on.
I know, as you hear the word “meditate”, the new age mumbo jumbo comes to mind. But that’s not what Biblical meditation is.
In actuality, meditating is thinking deeply or focusing one's mind for a period of time, in silence.
Meditating on God's word – meditating on scripture – gives you a framework to live each day and entire life focusing on what God said in the scriptures.
What’s better than God’s Word to Stay Focused on?
