God's Special Instruction to the Israelites

When the Israelites were in the wilderness for 40 years, God gave them manna to alleviate the scarcity of food.

Psalm 78:24-25 referred to manna as the bread of heaven and angel’s food.

Sweet as honey. Fresh for the day.

Exodus 16:15 reads, "So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat."

"Had rained down manna on them to eat, And given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angels’ food; He sent them food to the full."

It was a daily provision but most importantly, it foreshadows something quite significant.

What Exactly Does the Manna Foreshadow?

God gave a special instruction to gather the food.

Such an amazing miracle of provision.

It was the literal bread that miraculously rained from heaven to feed the Israelites in wilderness.

We aren’t concerned with the physical properties of manna.

Instead, we must focus on what it foreshadows.

Manna is a foreshadowing of Jesus!

Jesus is the Bread of Life

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:32

Jesus was trying to bring the focus of the people towards the true bread…

However, many couldn’t understand the truth He was declaring.

While God saved the Israelites from starvation, Jesus is here to save you from the starvation of your soul.

He has come for our salvation.

This is a real life demonstration of God providing us our daily bread a.k.a His word. The focus remains the Word – Jesus!

Nothing else.

Not today nor tomorrow.
