Where Will You Spend Eternity?

Three young people with arms crossed wondering about heaven, eternal life, and where they will spend eternity.

God has given the promise of eternal life to everyone. The real question is: Are you ready to claim it?

Close your eyes for a moment and picture the place you will be as you take your last breath.

What do you see?

A simple answer: depends on the quality of your Christian life.

How?

Let me tell you a story…

A preacher once spoke on eternal destiny. The next day several young people came by his office seeking to trip him up.

The first one said…

“I believe we have a dispute here sir and I’d like to settle it.”

Okay, what is it?” said the preacher.

“Well, you say the wicked will go into eternal punishment and I don’t think they will.”

“Well then,” said the preacher wisely, “you don’t have a dispute with me. For in the Bible, Matthew 25:46 says, “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Your dispute is with the Lord and I suggest you go immediately and settle it with Him.

Did you think to settle the dispute with the Lord?

Before you do that, how about answering this question.

Can a follower of Jesus Go on Living in Sin?

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What does this verse really mean?

When someone gets wages, they receive it in return of their service or job done, right?

So if a person sins, then who is he serving? Not God, of course.

The point is that God hasn’t chosen death for us. But death came in our life because of sin.

If you repent from your sins and choose to follow Jesus Christ, you are no longer a slave to sin. Jesus already paid the price of your sins. So, entering and staying in the Lordship of Jesus ensures you are on the path to receive the gift of eternal life.

In simple words, you have chosen a new Master; Christ Jesus whose presence in your life determines the gifts and blessings you receive.

He gives eternal life which also tells that there surely is a life after death.

Science has found that nothing can disappear without a trace

Dr. Wernher von Braun says there are also ‘essentially scientific’ reasons for believing in life after death.

He stated, “Science has found that nothing can disappear without a trace. Nature does not know extinction. If God applies the fundamental principle to the most minute and insignificant parts of the universe, doesn’t it make sense to assume that He applies it to the masterpiece of His creation — the human soul? I think it does.

This settles the matter I believe.

So, here’s what I have to ask you.

Are you ready to receive your gift of eternal life?

God is ready to give the gift of eternal life to everyone through His son Jesus Christ. But in all this, He has given to each of us the right to decide where we will spend that life — in the eternal happiness of heaven or in the eternal “lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15) (KJV).

There are several verses in the Bible that clearly tell us that it depends on us whether or not we choose the beautiful life God desires for us.

How many such verses do you know? Better, how many verses do you really understand and remember?

Knowing the Word is key to claiming this gift.
