Why Faith is Like WiFi

Now Faith Is Confidence In What We Hope For And Assurance About What We Don’t See. Hebrews 11:1

Do you remember the television commercial by the phone company, AT&T. The ad is called "Keep Calm, Your Internet's On."

The ad takes the viewer through the sheer panic and frustration of a suburban family whose home internet has stopped working.

The husband is on the floor blathering uncontrollably.

The wife has resorted to trying to swipe framed photos on the wall like they were tablet computers.

One of the commercials concluded with the husband sticking his head out of an upstairs window, screaming…

up at the night sky, and firing a distress flare into the air.

The family's desperation is evident. If you watch the commercial, you could feel their panic and sense of loss.

I know, I know... it’s just the internet... so it's all kind of silly.

But did you ever notice that sometimes we feel the same way when we don’t get answers from God?

Sometimes we can’t even feel the confidence that things will work out no matter what. Not a good place to be in, right?

Keep Calm Because You Have Faith At All Times

The problem isn’t that you don’t have faith. But the issue is that it’s invisible like the WiFi. Or electricity.

Interestingly, you are confident that the home page will show up and the light will turn on as you take action to make it happen.

That means, you can only show your faith by confidently doing what you are believing for.

You possibly can't explain electricity beyond telling someone not to touch two wires at the same time or they'll get shocked.

And you don't have the foggiest idea how what you type in your computer right here somehow instantly displays on someone's computer in Tibet, the very second you press the 'Send' key.

But you believe even when you don’t understand how it works. Every single day.

Your Faith in God is Like WiFi; Visible Through Your Works

The reality is, we don't have to understand everything about electricity or WiFi to know the lights are on and our email is working.

It’s the assurance and the confidence we have in our hearts that it will work. We don’t need to understand the mechanics.

That’s exactly how our faith in God looks like.

We don't have to understand and know everything God will do in our lives. How He will intervene for us in our scariest situations.

Because faith in God is like WiFi, it’s invisible. However, the level of your faith shows itself by your deeds.

"You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.” James 2:22
